Fire blanket

It's cold compared to the last few days so we succumbed to a log fire!
I've been very insular today; I managed to make some stewed apple and porridge for breakfast but since then I've done the absolute minimum. 
We sat in the conservatory while the sun shone and kept us warm. I read and dozed (the hour forward doesn't suit me to begin with) and used my tablet a fair bit to look at the headlines. I also enjoyed a bit of culture by looking at some of the art at the National Portrait Gallery online. 
Now I'm lapping up the warmth of the fire and thinking about when exactly to start cooking a mushroom risotto, while watching some Country File.
