Au Revoir Josie...

So, two days after the first, formal notice of virus restrictions and my daughter (now 20 weeks pregnant) and I agree to meet for a last walk with Tilly before the clampdown in London really bites...
We meet in Putney late morning and walk west along the river path to Barnes, talking constantly, with Tilly bouncing by our sides, desperate to get in the river.
Today there are still bars and cafes open, no-one quite aware that soon everything would be empty...

We had a wonderful happy walk. There were quite a few other dog walkers on the broad river path, all practicing their understanding of what two metres isolating distance looked like.

We were happily weary(us) and delightedly sodden and muddy (Tilly) by the time we got to Barnes Station where we said our sad goodbyes knowing that we had no idea when we would be able to meet like this again.
I caught a deserted train back to an equally deserted Waterloo and then home...no one there either.

Plenty of time to dwell on the situation and recognise that there are going to be tough times ahead, with generations of baby boomers and their children, the majority used to having control over their lives, suddenly having their ‘normal’ ripped from them.
Let’s hope we all cope...
