Boys' Toys
TM said to me yesterday that he's quite enjoying being socially isolated up here on the hill. I thought it might be my sparkling company, but no, it's because he gets to use all his machines - hedge-cutter, log-splitter, shredder and the jewel in the collection, the chain-saw.
There's plenty for him to go at, on the bank behind the house. There's an ancient hedgerow that has been untouched for years, and below it some birch and spruce that have grown unchecked into an almost impenetrable tangle. The spruce are getting to be far too tall, and we'll soon have to tackle them, before they start falling over and landing on our roof. That will be a job for a professional - when TM has made access possible.
Tonight we should be dancing the night away in Inverness ... we'll be consoling ourselves with a wee dram or two later.
