thank you blossom
I cut a sprig of blossom from the tree outside the house, put it near the feeders and hoped a bird would use it as a perch. I can always rely on my friendly robin !
The blue tits are also now actively in and out of the cam box. The little camera in the nesting box transmits to the small tv in the kitchen and we can see them doing a bit of decorating before they move in. Each year the same ritual. They peck away at the soft wood between the grain making lots of grooves and patterns. They sound like a woodpecker when they are doing it, then they pick up the bits of wood shavings and take them out, as you can see in the extra photo. I hope they stop soon because the grooves are so deep the wall must be thin in parts. Apparently it is just to personalise their home, in a tree they may need to do this to change the shape of the cavity as well but that doesn't apply in their nesting box.
Another nice day in the garden and another lockdown day ticked off.
