Surprise gifts

Several years ago a friend cut down a small oak tree in my garden. It has grown from an acorn twenty five years ago but was filling the garden with shade. The wood was cut into logs for my log burner and has been keeping me warm. The same friend has taken up wood turning as a hobby and recently asked me if I had any logs remaining. I only had a few small pieces left which I handed back to him last term. Today he cycled over with a small parcel for me. Inside were two bottles stoppers a cheese knife and a cheese slice all with beautifully turned and polished handles. Such special gifts made from a tree grown in my garden. I am very grateful..
