Lockdown Day 12

Highlight of the day was a catch up with Claire, who I usually work with here in Barcelona in August and September and she works full-time in that school. We did it on Zoom, as that’s the platform we’re learning.  We spent most of the call playing around with the different features of Zoom, trying out different things, like sharing screens, sharing a video and music clip, annotating on shared documents and the interactive whiteboard. Good to get the chance to do this with someone who’s also interested in it, rather than my boring Bb with it all.  Nice to be able to try different things out, without having to worry if it’s going to work or not!  In her case, because of the lockdown, all the teachers were given some basic training on it and then had to jump straight in and do their face-to-face classes online!  Most of her work is teacher training at the moment, so she only has a couple of classes to do like this, but she will soon be having to do training on-line.  Imagine: a trainee teacher being assessed on teaching online to students all connecting from their homes and your trainer observing your class (from home) and assessing it as part of your course qualification.  Some trainers are up in arms about it.  I think most schools are only doing this to finish off already-started courses, but there are schools which are going to start new courses and run them totally on-line for the moment.  Arachne, if you're looking in here, you may be able to imagine this more than most. 

Dinner was a baked potato with tuna and sweetcorn mayonnaise and roasted broccoli, followed by Greek yoghurt, strawberries and honey.  

Ended up watching some Dave Allen last night on YouTube - his sketch on  supermarket shopping and the one on teaching a child to tell the time are classics! 

My back's still sore and I think actually worse than yesterday. 

My blip's of two plants on our balcony starting to flower.  It might soon be warm enough to sit out here :-)
