Love In The Time Of Coronavirus

We can still walk side by side you know.
The police aren’t going to leap out
and arrest us. So there’s no need for you
to walk in front. Unless you prefer to?

We’re a couple for god’s sake! We share
the same bed. Yes you’re stressed
and all of this has messed with your head
and yes I am aware we’re now cooped

up together for hour after hour after hour. 
And, believe me, I know it’s not like
in the old days  when we could just pop
along to the Co-op

or call in to the cafe for a coffee.
(Was that really only last week!)
But be close. Let’s stay together.
I need your love more than ever.
