Tied in Knots

Dear Diary,

In a couple of weeks, I will start my seventh year posting a photo every day. I haven't missed a single day in all that time, even when I had surgery and was in hospital.   Way back when I started, someone asked me how I could possible find something to photograph day after day.  I said, "There's always something."  Even self-isolating as I am now, I still find something.  Matt secured this tarp over my patio sink back in the fall and the contrast of the yellow and brown caught my eye.  It is protected until spring comes and he can take off the covering.  I feel a bit like that too.  Tied to this place for the foreseeable future until it is safe to go out into the world again.  Still, the few birds come and go, the daffodils are poking out again, life goes on.  I read somewhere that we shouldn't use the phrase "social distancing" but instead refer to it as "compassionate retreat".  I like that.  We keep our distance because we care for others.
