Ullswater

I felt rather guilty today - it seems wrong at times like this but it was one of the most astonishingly beautiful and blissful days. I did a bit of gardening and then got on my bike and cycled to the lake and on to Howtown. I’ve never seen the campsites completely empty before and didn’t see a soul except a couple of farmers and another lone cyclist. The peace must have been how it was before cars. The warmth and light was quite literally heavenly. I sat with my thermos of tea and watched these boats doing their exercises of synchronised swinging at anchor and at a safe distance from each other and then I looked across the bay to see a large flock of cormorants taking flight with the layers of the high fells a majestic back drop.
On my way back I gathered some kindling and picked some wild garlic for supper.
