Isolation

Quite a lot of blippers right now will be self isolating due to the current health crisis and when I think of isolation, I always imagine living in a house like this. This is the shepherd’s cottage at Hillend Farm, Roberton and I think it is a fine example of isolated.

My grandfather took on the job of hird, or shepherd and moved into this cottage with his wife and three children, back in the forties. They only stayed there a year, before moving on to the next job for maybe more money or a better tied house. My mum, the youngest of the three was only a baby. I pass by three times a week and always think about life back then.
