Amaryllis

We got an amaryllis bulb for Christmas. You have to be careful with these as we once sat in the living room aware that something was trying to rip through the wrapping paper in one of the gifts under the tree. From the inside of one of the presents! You could hear the paper tearing! It turned out to be an amaryllis bulb which was impatient to be planted!

This one has just flowered properly today and I wanted to catch it while it is still fresh. These wonderful, large flowers are native to South Africa and are also known as "Naked Ladies" due to their lack of leaves.

I shall try and blip something other than flowers tomorrow.
