Leaf bud

 
Yes, it is a leaf bud, but the mystery is – which plant?
 
Today we entered a new phase of communication.
 
The day started with four of us joining our usual Italian teacher for an hour-long lesson but this time adhering to stringent distancing rules.
 
Using an App called ZOOM, we all sat in a virtual classroom and read from pre-emailed pages, translated, attended to tough grammatical problems, etc.
 
It worked well.
 
Then the real test began with an hour of entertaining two London based grandchildren, using the Messenger App this time.
 
Now that office workers are marooned at home, and all schools closed, the poor parents cannot work and entertain two energetic children, aged 5 and 2.
 
So we tried.
 
We prepared a pot of soil and they watched interactive seed planting
I read a book
I held up animal shapes for them to identify.
(They struggled with the upright meerkat but easily recognised the “hittotoppomus”)
 
But, as you would expect, it all ended in chaos
 
Tomorrow, must try harder.
