Hope
Gavin is still going to the office, but as there are only three of them there out of the usual 100 staff, they can keep well away from each other. Thankfully he drives to work as the stories of the crowded tubes this morning were quite ridiculous!
I popped into Waitrose supermarket this morning before Xena had her walk. The first hour is reserved for the elderly and key workers, and by the time I got there at after 10am it was not busy, it was very calm with many spaces in the car park. Apparently in the first hour of opening today there were long queues and it was a bit crazy. Not easy to maintain a 2m distance from other shoppers when it is busy like that. There was plenty of food on the shelves – still no eggs, chicken, tomatoes, tinned tomatoes, toilet paper and anti bac sprays but there was plenty of other stuff to choose from. Gavin also went to the M&S near his office first thing this morning and got many fresh veggies there so we are fine with food at the moment. Fingers crossed that the food supply crisis is now over.
It was also very quiet in the woods – being a beautiful sunny day and with children off from school I thought it would be very busy but we hardly saw any other walkers. Not so much fun for Xena as she did not meet other dogs to play with.
Luke is working from home and was asked by his manager to go into the client’s office tomorrow which means he would have to use public transport to get there. The client obviously has no regard for the social distancing and thankfully when Luke questioned how reasonable this was, the client had to see sense and he is no longer required to go in.
It was a beautiful sunny day - it finally feels like spring, there are woodpeckers knocking in the trees above as you walk in the woods, blossoms and spring flowers are out, and one can almost forget about the crisis that we are currently living through.
I received a text from our local GP surgery to ask if I would volunteer to collect prescriptions from the pharmacies and deliver them to those who are self isolating - I am sure many have received similar requests. I agreed to help so I will see what develops.
A new branch shoot promising new life - we need to find the positives occurring every day.
