Ufton Fields

Another nice, sunny day.  We packed a lunch and self-isolated ourselves in the car for a drive to the Wawickshire Wildlife Trust Ufton Fields Nature Reserve.  This is a smallish area, ex-quarry of woodlands and ponds between Southam and Leamington with no facilities except a small car park and paths, some muddy in places, round the area. It also has a couple of hides.

We picked this spot as we thought it would be quiet and not too many people around.  We were correct in this assumption and though there were one or two people out walking, some with their children, it was easy enough to social-distance ourselves from them.

We had a nice walk around the place, not covering the whole area but enough for me to feel I'd had some fresh air and exercise, and take some photos of course.  Then back to the car for lunch and a sit with a view other than our own garden.

It was a little early in the year for us to spot much wildlife, apparently the place has lots of birds and dragonflies, and even toadlets in the Spring.  We did spot one butterfly which I've added to the extras.  I'm not sure what it is but I'm sure someone will know.  I like the way its wings are camouflaged to match the leaves.
