"first rose"

i spotted these across the dip, peeping out of the old grass and rushes.

apparently, primrose plants are either male or female, these look to have a stigma sticking out, 'pin-eyed' females. males are 'thrum-eyed', they have a tiny star-like bunch of stamen in the middle.

tomorrow i'm going to look again and have read that they're fragrant... so i'll have a sniff too!
