Should auld acquaintance be forgot...

It's Burns Night and it's only right that today's blip should go to Braehead Primary in South Ayrshire.

On St Andrew's Day, we blipped about the boat they built, and about the wee fleet they launched in the Council Headquarters in South Ayrshire.

Today, 25th January, we're returning to Braehead's boat which they built from the sheet music for Auld Lang Syne, specially printed on larger pages for their big boat which is shown here in the Boat Shed at the exhibition.

They also made lots of little Auld Lang Syne boats from A4 pages of the music.

In 1994, George Wyllie's Paper Boat was moored between the Auld Brig and the new one during the Ayr Arts Festival, so very fitting all round.

Burns, as we've said before, was a significant influence on Wyllie's work and thinking.

P7 Braehead PS is coming to visit the exhibition next week. They'll be the final school to come in.

Over in Fife, P6 pupils in Newburgh PS have been learning to play Auld Lang Syne on the ukulele. (George Wyllie's favourite instrument.) Today, at the end of two days of Scottish celebrations, they were joined by pupils in P7 in singing it at the close of their Burns Supper. Brilliant!
