Geese and thwarted plans.
This morning the sky was full of wild geese heading North to their breeding grounds in Iceland. They can fly high over closed borders and their airline is still flying!
Had the Gods been kinder we were to head off to South Africa in the next couple of weeks. Rorke's Drift, Islanawana, Zululand and the Kruger Park were on our itinerary but it was not to be. I will just have to get on with scanning Kodachromes from past visits. The extra shows one hot off the scanner, a wild dog Lycaon pictus at dawn. We were using radio collars that used earth satellites to track the movements and habitat use of the dogs. Those were the days .......
