Maximum Effort

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellows,

As I mentioned, we had to choose a day to work from home this week, and this was my day.

Coincidentally, it was also the first day that the company which employs Caro - based in Edinburgh - decided to bring mandatory working from home until further notice.

So when I got up at the more reasonable hour of 6am today, relishing the fact that there was no commute, Caro was reading OVER TWO HUNDRED WhatsApp messages from her team. They had been messaging each other all through their first WFH day.

They made it sound like life in a prison camp.

"Have just been comfort-eating. Most of the cake gone now. Then had a bit of a blub."

"Made curry in the afternoon. Still quite weepy".

"Oh god Caro. How DO you do it?!?!"

Caro rolled her eyes. I thought she would send a "WAKE UP TO YOURSELF!" message to her team* but instead she sent some very comforting messages about positive mental attitude and sticking to routine.

Meanwhile, I was LOVING it. I rolled around on the couch all day, Smockless. Don't get me wrong. I did SOME work. But I also spent a fair amount of time watching telly and podcasting.

Don't get me wrong. I am worried about this whole situation. And the news just gets worse and worse every day. I'm worried about my family and I'm worried about you.

I am sure you are being sensible. And if you're working from home, then I hope you are not too traumatised by it. I recommend a positive mental attitude, sticking to routine, napping on the couch, playing with cats and watching telly.

Together, we can get through this.

S.

* Who have apparently been agitating to work from home for YEARS. I know it's more the circumstances than the working from home, but still.
