Alasitas

Today is Alasitas. Everyone buys miniatures of things they would like to have in the coming year; money, houses, cars, businesses, even families. Some things are more symbolic, like a hen/rooster representing a partner.

They go through two blessing ceremonies, one Aymara and one Catholic, and then they are given away to friends and family for good fortune.

In total, I was given 2550 Bolivianos, $4900 and 7300 Euros. If only it were real money!
