A Taste of Honey.
Tonight I went to the theatre in Edinburgh - one of my very favourite things to do. It was A Taste of Honey at the Lyceum, a beautiful ornate old building.
It's set in Salford in the 1950's - it tells the story of Jo, a seventeen-year-old working class girl, and her mother. It became known as a "kitchen sink" drama, part of a genre revolutionising British theatre at the time of its writing
It was pretty gritting & I suppose shocking at the time, brilliantly acted and I very much enjoyed it.
This is a shot from the Grand Circle of the stage just as the drama was about to unfold...
