Morton Lace

Today i Was helping my youngest who was writing a talk on famous Scots
He chose his great great great grandad Alexander morton who was the man who brought lace making looms to the Irvine valley.
The photo is of a lace table cloth made by Alexander Morton and co in 1977 for the queens silver jubilee. It has the crown surrounded by the emblems of the four countries leek, shamrock, thistle and rose.
In the four corners there is St Paul's , the coach, the throne, and Westminster Abbey.
This table cloth belonged to my Granny and I treasure it as it reminds me of Saturday afternoons at her house with a lace table cloth on the table, red Curries Kola, home made potato scones and empire biscuits and a wooden sugar bowl with a half globe wooden spoon with demerara sugar. It was good fun to play with the sugar and make shapes with that wee spoon.
