Aotearoa…
………………......……Mural
This is the exterior of the historic powerhouse building, which later became home to the Plant & Food Research (seafood research unit) on Wakefield Quay, Nelson, NZ.
In 2017, Plant & Food Research moved into a purpose-built research facility in Port Nelson. Nelson City Council owns the building - it possibly sits empty and I don’t know of any future plans for its use.
Christopher Finlayson created this iconic work, Aotearoa, in 1984 on the side of this 1922 heritage building, which once housed the electricity generating plant providing power to Nelson City.
Your response to yesterday’s blip took me completely by surprise - thank you so much for all the visits, stars and hearts. There will be a delay, but I will catch up with your journals a little later.
