Stranger things...
Hello Blipbuddies,
I hope you’re all safe and well.
It’s hard to know what to write about, or what to photograph, at the moment, with the world falling apart around us... but I wanted to pop by and say hi!
Today was my last office-based work day for who knows how long. I’ll now be doing what work I can from home and, like all of you, I think my world will be getting much, much smaller from here on in - for as long as it takes.
As things stand, I’m not displaying any symptoms which would require me to self-isolate but, nevertheless, I’m planning to be as socially distant as possible for the duration. Not only do I not want to put myself at any unnecessary risk, but I’d hate to inadvertently put anyone else at risk either.
Which means that planned visits to both my parents have been cancelled (which I’m very upset about), and that various gigs and social activities I was hoping to attend won’t be happening either.
For the time being I’m still planning to go out for regular walks/exercise and for essential shopping etc but who knows how long that’ll go on for...
I know we’re all feeling anxious and helpless about the health and well-being of our friends, family and loved ones but I’m grateful for Blipfoto and for the fact that I’m able to keep in touch with you beautiful Blippers and with all the people who are important to me, virtually, if not in the flesh.
In troubled times I find myself turning to the music that’s meant the most to me over the years. Today, I can’t get REM out of my head.
I’m avoiding ‘It’s the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)’ because I have a hunch that none of us are feeling remotely fine at the moment... but here’s ‘Fireplace’ https://youtube.com/watch?v=2bj0t8YHbL4
As I understand it, the lyric was inspired by the preaching of Mother Ann Lee of the religious sect the Shakers (best known for their furniture designs, of course).
Stay safe, stay well, and stay connected, everyone. Lots of love xx
