Grandad and William in Bradgate Park

We took advantage of today's beautiful weather to go for a walk in Bradgate Park. We don't know when we'll be able to see William again given the coronavirus restrictions. Added to which, George was sent home from work with instructions to self isolate because a work colleague has been admitted to hospital icu with pneumonia thought to be a result of covid-19. George has to stay home for a week. The results of the test are due on Wednesday.

After this weekend, Len and I are supposed to self isolate for 12 weeks. I pray that George hasn't been infected. I hadn't felt that Len had been taking things seriously but it came home to him today.

It wasn't a long walk. I'm still feeling weak after my recent illness. So we found a spot by the River Lin where I could sit and where William was able to walk around with Grandad and look at footprints left by the 'Rudolphs,' his name for deer. They found a spot where a deer had evidently slipped and fallen. But there were no deer to be seen.

Back home, Will devoured a cottage pie and then some cheese sandwich. We adjourned to the conservatory to sit in the sun and read some Thomas the Tank Engine books. We did go and look at the frog spawn in the pond. I stirred it with a stick to demonstrate that it was like jelly. The frogs, like the 'Rudolphs,' must all have been asleep. There were none to see.

At  quarter past three Will and I went into the kitchen to make some choc chip cookies. Will stirred the mixture round at various points and dutifully licked his fingers and cleaned out the mixing bowl.

The cookies were delicious. We ate one before taking him back to Leicester and put eight in a bag for him to take to Mummy and Daddy. At the house, we took Will's bag and boots and pushchair out of the boot and sat them on the lawn in front of the front door for his Dad to collect. George came out to get Will out of the car. We kept a suitable social distance.

Not even possible to give a kiss and a hug.
