Luna at the vet

Poor Luna, she was hiding in my jacket before I took her into the vet. All went well, her surgery went fine and she came round from her anaesthetic and ate straight away, which none of the other bunnies have ever done. We discovered that she was having a pseudo-pregnancy however. When the first incision was made, milk came out. She had an enlarged uterus and lots of follicular cysts on her ovaries. Thankfully she wasn’t actually pregnant but she wouldn’t have known that. She had been digging her hay into ‘nests’ but we hadn’t thought anything of it, we didn’t realise that’s what she was doing at the time. Apparently it’s not uncommon and there doesn’t need to be a male present for it to happen. It’s probably for the best that she was spayed now, her hormones are obviously a bit wild and this will prevent any nasty issues down the line. Hopefully this will sort the issue, but apparently they can have further phantom pregnancies, even once spayed. :/
