Everglades

I'm getting a touch of cabin fever. Not that I'm not going out but it's hard to get motivated to do much with so much drama going on around the world.

When my daughter got married and set off to Europe for her honeymoon I thought now she has a husband I would be relieved of bailing her out of international difficulties (don't ask, the list is family folklore).
But no, they need to cut the honeymoon short and get home from France as soon as they can. So It was my job to see what I could do from this end. They booked through Amex but their office is closed till tomorrow. I tried to ring Qantas but the wait time was going to be 3 to 5 hours!!. I did manage to get through to Emirates which have a much better system and called me back rather than having to wait in a phone queue (take note Qantas). However they can't help as the flight was booked via Amex and Qantas even though they are the carrier. I can't say I blame Helen for not trying to do it herself from rural France in the middle of Saturday night.
Anyway she is sending some emails and I will try the Amex office tomorrow. At least the very helpful man at Emirates was able to tell me they have seats available. I just hope we can get them back before everything shuts down.
Then they will have to go into self-isolation for 2 weeks on return but I suppose if you are going to be locked up with someone for a fortnight it might as well be on your honeymoon ;-)

So back to the cabin fever. We decided to again make use of our National Trust passes and visited Everglades, an art deco house and extensive garden at Leura. I haven't been there for many years. You forget what treasures are in your own backyard. It even came with what looked like its own honeymooners.
