Little Sonny
There is a funny story about a small keychain from this Gainesville restaurant called Sonny's; it involves two beloved photographers from the National DRAGSTER staff many years ago, neither of whom are still with us. The story was told fondly to me - twice - during the weekend. I know it's silly and nonsensical, but I like to hear the same story from two different people.
One of the things that I am realizing more and more is that I really enjoy that everyone has a story. I have a story, yeah, but the stories that belong to others are so much more interesting. When I was younger - actually, I do this even now - I used (use) reading as a form of escape. To lose yourself in a book is to pack away your problems for just a bit and focus on a story that belongs to someone else. I find that I deal with things better when I am able to step away and then step back in when ready. I just need to disconnect from a situation sometimes in order to gain clarity.
Reading Eat Pray Love at the moment. It's delightful and I highly recommend it.
p.s. We ate at Sonny's the first night in Gainesville. The moment we entered the establishment we were greeted with "Hey ya'll! Welcome to Sonny's!" It was repeated approximately five times in the next minute until we were seated. Those folks are friendly! I had a barbecue chicken combo and it was yummy-good! Funny thing, though, ever since I returned from the south I cannot get enough salad.
