Richard Lawrence at the Wayzgoose Printers' Fair

We went up the valley to the new location of Stroud Brewrey which was hosting the latest Stroud Wayzgoose Printers' Fair beside the Thames and Severn canal near Thrupp. We know one of the organisers, Lucy Guenot, whom Helena used to work with when Lucy was the lead graphic designer at Gaia Books in Stroud back in the 1990s.

I really enjoyed the exhibition although the fair and sales area itself was so busy that it became nearly impossible to circulate. We decided to retreat to the bar and sup beer and cider respectively, the beer brewed onsite. 

Outside the doorway to the fair on the first floor, Richard Lawrence had come from Oxford with his 'Ullmer' letterpress, from the 1870s, which he was happily demonstrating to all and sundry. I asked him if I could take pictures and just as I did so these children passed by, were captivated and became involved in pulling levers and then walking away with a print. Their parents said I could blip them.

Richard retired from a 'science' job and became a working printer.
