Little Barford
This power station has long fascinated me. For ages after it was commissioned it would produce twin streams of cloud, it seemed, vapour that would join the natural cloud above it. That has been fixed, I believe.
But it's also a great landmark for the airman; like most power stations it's conspicuous from a good distance, visibility allowing, and the emissions of steam from the chimneys give the non-GPS navigator a good idea of the wind at low level, enabling him to make proper allowance with the aircraft's heading.
So, apart from its use of fossil fuels, it's a Good Thing . . .
