Ramblings from Zambia....

hanging....

So yesterday, Blessings became a father again.  His wife was expecting twins and had been in the hospital for over a week.  There seemed to be complications but the doctors were not saying anything.  Yesterday she managed to deliver one child naturally but the second child had problems and after some difficulties was born but did not survive long.  A very traumatic experience for the parents.  Then according to local tradition the baby had to be buried the same day - the body was taken to a graveyard and buried by some older women.  I was saddened because the poor mother had no time to grieve and the father was distraught as he accompanied the women to the graveyard.  The mother and child and doing quite well and we hope they will be discharged early next week.  During all of this I had been talking with Blessings trying to keep him calm as he told me he just wanted to end his life because of all the pressures this was causing to him and his family.  Am so thankful that he eventually realised that doing such a thing would leave a greater burden for his wife and now three daughters.  Its been quite a difficult few days!
