Protea

In November, during the drought, I bought a variety of drought tolerate plants and wondered if they would survive the tough environment of my garden.
I bought 3 proteas and am quite chuffed that all three are doing really well. So well that two are starting to flower.
I have never grown these before so I am watching with interest.
Here is the the largest flower just about to bloom.

I read that in South African folklore they are a symbol of change and hope......seems quite appropriate.
