Abstraction
I have just started volunteering at the church office for a few hours a week, so was out and about today. I carried the camera with me but the weather was so dull that I found little inspiration in the city today. Before I arrived at the office I wandered into the Portrait Gallery to see the BP portrait exhibition and was strangely disappointed. While the paintings are incredible, most are so realistic they could have been photographs, and lacked some life. My favourite were the ones that were obviously paintings, but were done so with vivid brushstrokes and colours, more im- and expressionistic. I found it interesting that in landscape painting, current trends seem to be the more abstract the better, whilst the opposite seems to be true in portraiture.
As I never manged to get an outside blip today I was searching for an emergency blip at bedtime and decided to snap these vases that we picked up in Gozo on our honeymoon 10 years ago. They are Gozo glass. The photos were a little boring so I cropped the best one to make it a bit more abstract. I love the patterns and hints of blue throughout.
