Sunshine (Day 1767)

I had a bit of a late start this morning which meant I missed the early morning rain showers when I took the woofers up the hill for their morning wander.
Back at home I made a start on lining the inside of the van with plywood. The idea is that the plywood stops stuff inside the van denting the outer skin. There are a few places online which sell kits for lining vans, and they advertise free delivery. Sadly the free delivery turns into a charge of nearly £100 to get a lining kit to Orkney. The delivery charge makes it far too expensive to buy the kit.
I set about lining the floor, after making a couple of templates from cardboard for the cutouts round the wheel arches and various other bits of the load area. The floor was done by lunchtime and after stuffing my face I zoomed across to Stromness with the woofers for a wander and to check on the horses. I was too warm in the bright sunshine.
Home again to do more ply lining, this time the sides up to half height and boxes over the wheel arches. More templates, lots of measuring, and a lot of sawing. There was a fair bit of swearing as I broke a a bunch of drill bits making holes to screw the ply onto the van sides. I gave up for the day at 645, there is more to do but I was running out of light. I loaded some of my tools into the van, the rest can go in when I have finished lining and built some racking.
I am getting a bit better at this wood butchery lark, but I still don't like doing it.
In a few hours I will be heading to town to collect  my beautiful wife who is returning from her adventures south.
