Snipe in Snowscape

We headed to the hills today to make the most of the snow. The visibility was poor and we had light snow for quite a lot of the walk, but it was glorious! As we got to the highest point of our walk, we were surprised to see 3 snipe feeding in a small gulley in the snow. On the way down, we encountered these guys which was a bit daunting as they were in the middle of a narrow path with a wall on one side and a steep drop on the other. However, they were completely placid and let us pass. We had a late-ish pub lunch in the village at the end of our walk, then got a bus home before venturing out again to the monthly bird study group meeting. A rather splendid day!
