water, water, everywhere
...things did not go to plan today... not at all.
The incessant rain is rapidly progressing beyond a mere challenge and careening inexorably into the realm of the really depressing! The only consolation today was that the rain was neither as continuous nor as heavy as yesterday. Nonetheless, we have been plunged straight back into the flooding that seems to have become the new norm in Dorset.
Despite the weather, we stuck to my plan of photographing a particular grand house and, as usual, I had a couple of contingency properties just in case my target was not suitably visible from any public place. As it turned out, the visibility issue was something entirely unexpected - the entire manor house was surrounded by a skeleton of scaffolding, which, in turn, was surmounted by a marquee of plastic sheeting. It would seem that the manor house has been tested as much as we have by the constant rain! This is a big disappointment because I had a wonderful story to go with this one.
It didn't end there, either. I knew that each of the other properties was visible from public footpaths. Unfortunately, the footpaths themselves were not at all visible, having been swallowed by the newly engorged River Frome.
So, no history today but, thanks to Stoborough Heath, I didn't come home with an entirely empty memory card...
