A Hedgehog!

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellows,

We get a lot of visitors in our garden at night. There's a little black cat and a little tortie cat. They sneak under our fence and steal across the garden. And if you spot them they give you this look.

"BUSTED!"

They freeze, with wide eyes. But Caro has been charming them. And she puts out our leftover cat food. We have a lot of leftover cat food because the boys are such fussy little creatures. Also, Punky and Jasper believe that "licking the gravy off the top" is the same as "eating their food".

Back in Aurora we would tip uneaten cat food down the waste disposal but here we do not have such a miraculous device. So it's actually really handy that we have local cats who provide this service themselves.

But last night, a surprise visitor! And no-one was more surprised than PunkyCat here when a hedgehog rocked up and ate his cat food.

Right in front of him!

Typically, it was at this point that Punky decided that he really LIKED that cat food and WANTED that cat food and HIS cat food was being eaten by something that wasn't even a CAT.

The hedgehog did not care. He snuffled and snorted and inhaled the cat food. And then he effed off again.

Never mind Punky, there will be more gravy for you to lick up for breakfast.

S.

UPDATE: It is TWO hedgehogs. One is bigger than the other so we assume they are a couple. This raises the prospect of hoglets. Caro is very excited because she loves hedgehogs.
