Sidewalk Sale
Karen was arranging the sale items so I took a quick photo before I went to talk with her. She showed us the little white teapot and tiny cups and took out the strainer inside that she said was a really good one. She thought she might buy it herself. I like a good sale but the last thing I need is more stuff in my cupboards!
There was a Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada boat moored at one of the docks. We went down to have a look and had a really interesting conversation with a couple of the guys. I asked if I could take a couple of pictures. They said it was okay as long as they weren't in them. They'd been out checking the number of adult and juvenile herring and had found plenty of both, good news for all the seabirds, marine mammals and fish that eat them. I remember tasting herring eggs that had been harvested from kelp when one of my First Nations students brought some to class. I found them too salty.
Extras: nets and floats; ropes and a brush, some of the containers on the boat
Didn't have time to comment today so will catch up tomorrow.
