Laughing Duck

We spent some time at the river today, the Kennebec River, watching mallard ducks, Canada geese, ring-billed gulls and ice floats drifting by. With the warming temperatures, large patches of open water are appearing, which will soon beckon the return of some of our favorites: Cormorants, Osprey and Eagles. This handsome drake was dabbling in a puddle of water at the Boat Landing with a couple of his mallard friends.
