Recycling
Today was one of those days. Wednesdays are Mondays in disguise. You prepare yourself for Monday, have an idea of what to expect. But Wednesday? No one warns you about Wednesdays,
I had to attend a meeting about a subject so dry that I could feel the life force drifting away. I was revived by lunch with my best friend but the meeting malaise was still about so I decided to skip the bus and walk the couple of miles back to the office.
Those of you who know Edinburgh know what a treasure trove and dump Leith Walk can be. Simultaneously life-affirming and depressing. I was walking along, thinking that there was nothing interesting to photograph and then came across this bike cum advertising site.
There was something so charming about the bike in a broken down sort of way. The back tyre was seriously bent out of shape but the bike had found another purpose. The Drill Hall that the bike was advertising was similarly a place that had outgrown its original intent and has become an arts hall, a great place to meander around on a Saturday.
Isn't that what recycling is all about? Going through another cycle. Seeing life a second (or third...) time around. Saving precious resources because they don't grow on trees.
