Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

Close to Home

Crazy times.   Because of the coronavirus scare, Amazon, Microsoft and many other businesses in downtown Seattle and nearby have told their employees to work from home.  Til the end of March!  That is a LOT of people!   (I counted 50 big Amazon buildings on the map of downtown Seattle!)  Even the local audobon society has cancelled their neighborhood walks.  Dil who started her Amazon job monday along with 700 others (!) got 3 days to work and is now back home.   As she says, it’s a great time to drive thru downtown!    Is this some sort of mass panic, an overabundance of caution, or reasonable science based caution. (My MD husband says the latter.  stop the spread. )  HS Junior Granddaughter says her school has warned them it may be shut down,I suspect when there is even one student who has it in Seattle.   Northshore school district and some private schools are closed for the month, but as she says, they all have computers and can learn from home.  The Seattle city school district can’t say that…so who knows…  One has to keep in mind that 11 people have died in this state, mostly old and already ill, and that the regular flu has much worse statistics, but not percentages.    I think the difference is this is an unknown entity….  But it will pass….after many more events with crowds are cancelled.
We went out to a pharmacy, grocery and gas station today but we did decide to bag the planned trip to APPLE to get a new phone for Herb, knowing that wouldn’t be a short stop like the others and it’s usually very crowded.  It will keep. …

Blip is the garden we pass on our neighborhood walks..this walk up the steep hill/steps to capital hill (I only do this twice a week)  but this is my favorite time to see this hillside with all the purples and yellows. (yes there are creatures walking on the many paths thru here)  As the Audobon society recommends, it’s a great time to watch birds and nature in your own back yard!
