Bella May Goes to School!
Tonight was the first of 8 doggie training nights.
Bella is really good in most things - she obeys commands, doesn't go on the furniture or chew things and even wipes her paws on the doormat after walkies. However we have 2 issues with her - one is that she jumps up at people to say hello and the other is that she has become aggressive towards some dogs; not in a bitey way but she pounces and growls and her hackles go up. There is no rhyme nor reason for this behaviour.
The class was excellent and Bella enjoyed it because there were lots of treats.
The first thing was to make sure the dogs actually knew their own names or got confused with commands like come here or get down being their name. I had never thought of that. All the dogs tonight knew their names. In fact Bella got confused because the dog next to us was also called Bella and when the trainer was demonstrating something using treats our Bella thought she was calling her to come for a treat. She was very well behaved though and just lay quite relaxed while the trainer was explaining things to the dog 'parents'. The class was meant to be an hour but went on for another 30 minutes!
We were all really tired when we got home - especially Bella.
Today was lovely and sunny and a bit warmer so I was outside at the mooring working on the garden. I weeded it all and chopped all the dried stalks and twiggy bits off the lavender and other plants and laid them criss cross on top of the soil and covered it all with compost. It's been really waterlogged and I think it will allow more drainage.
After dog class we came back to the house as we have a few things to sort out before the fencing gets done next week.
Way past my bedtime now!
Night - night zzzzZZZZZ
