One man and his boat
Bitterly cold but we've just been for ayomp around the circuit and ended up at the strand. This fisherman was just coming ashore in his amphibious craft - note the rather nifty wheel at the front. He uses his dinghy to get out to a slightly larger boat which he moors in the bay. This man works incredibly hard - it was he that was setting off when I arrived here at dawn yesterday. He checks his lobster pots then goes off catching other things! He seems to work on his own and I rather liked the solitaryness of this image.
Thanks you so much for all the warm and kind comments about Kit yesterday. We felt very glum but forced ourselves to brave the icy roads and headed out to Bantry for the evening as the new arthouse season was beginning. To cheer ourselves up we treated ourselves to fish and chips (mushy peas for me) and a glass of wine before hand. I'm so glad we went. The film was excellent.Called The Intouchables, it told the true story of a wealthy, cultured Parisian man who was paralysed from the neck down in a hang gliding incident. He hires an unlikely man as his carer - a young Senegalese from a very different background who has no time for mollycoddling and likes to live life to the full! They have a ball as two very different characters collide and bond. Totally unsentimental, very funny, very honest and two amazing performances from the leads. Recommended.
