Fenland Travels - Day 5
Ely Cathedral
Into Ely on the bus this morning to run some errands and do some shopping. After a cloudy start, the sun gradually appeared, though with that chilly wind, it still felt much colder than 8 degrees.
After wandering round town for two hours (my shopping list was long!), I headed to the cathedral for an hour to see the exhibition ‘Crowns and Gowns’ - “A fabulous collection of costumes, jewels, props, behind the scenes images and memorabilia from some of the major Hollywood movies filmed at Ely Cathedral.” https://www.elycathedral.org/events/crowns-and-gowns-an-exhibition
Lots of extras, so that I can include them in my yearly photobook, one or two are worth a peek if you have time.
Extra 1 - Blossom time at Ely Cathedral
Extra 2 - The crown as seen in The Crown!
Extra 3 and 4 - Crowns and Gowns in The Lady Chapel
Extra 5 and 6 - details from Ely Cathedral’s stunning ceiling and octagonal lantern
Extra 7 and 8 - Ely Cathedral
Extra 9 - The cannon captured from the Russians in Sebastopol and given to Ely City by Queen Victoria in 1860 after the Crimean War
Extra 10 - Blossom time at Oliver Cromwell’s House!
