After heavy rain

By day 9 we were very delayed.   We had stopped for over 24 hours at Mafikeng waiting for a S African locomotive to pull us whilst in S Africa.   Rovos Rail are not allowed to use their own locos in this country.   There was a rushed coach excursion to see the Rovos Depo in Pretoria and Nelson Mandela Square in Jo'burg.   We decided to stay on the train as we have already been to these places (our daughter worked in S Africa for some years).   We travelled through some beautiful countryside.   For us it was definitely the better option.
