The Blues Queen

Erja Lyytinen's gig at the new G Livelab club in Tampere. She and the band did great as always, the lights were good and the sound was excellent. The tour is named Blueskuningatar (The Blues Queen) after her biography which was published in November (with a couple of photos by me!) and she was wearing a truly royal looking robe. The set list had also some older material from her first albums, which was interesting as I had not heard all of them before.

The club is located in a building with a long history. It was originally built as the boiler room of Frenckell paper mill, which had the first paper machine in Finland in 1842. The chimney next to it was built 1870, not sure how old the boiler room itself is. Before being converted to a venue for live music last year, it acted as the magazine and newspaper room for the town library for decades.

Quite a small club, just a little bigger than TTT-Klubi, but also here the sound was great, and the lights were good. The gig was sold out weeks before and all those people made it difficult to move to good shooting positions, but managed to get some quite good shots.
