Park management

Our park is managed. There's no getting away from it. As far as wild wood s concerned, we don't have one. However, the management is very sympathetic and completed in a way that, normally, isn't too obvious.

Then a few trees come down with an awful, contagious disease which requires complete destruction in order to save the rest of them. This has happened to a small number of trees along the Avenue.

During our extended visit to Oz recently, the park managers have been busy with chainsaws, removing the danger and leaving the wood for anyone with commoner's rights to collect. At least that's the assumption made by some locals who I've noticed returning home with arms laden with faggots.

In order to inform the park users of the noble rather than destructive reasons for this devastation, notices have been placed on some of the larger pieces of trunk. These notices explain the need for removal. They also state that new lime trees will be planted to replace them.

All is well, then.
