Old Coal Train Line

This line ran from St Aidans Open Caste Coal Mine to the branch line in Allerton Bywater where it was loaded onto trains and either went to Castleford Main Line or the Leeds Main line at Garforth. The area to the left was the sidings for the trucks. There are no lines now but some are still across the path at St Aidans. Its a great place to walk the dogs as you can return through the woods on the right or go further down and walk back alongside Lowther Lake.
It is also part of a cycle route which runs from Garforth to Methley crossing the river Aire and Canal.

Another cold day. I delivered the parish magazines today in my area, some people have letterboxes that are designed to stop anything being pushed through without grabbing your hand. Thought I had better get it done before the storm hits us tomorrow, it's getting up quite breezy tonight now.
