Picking Litter

When there's an extra day in the year you feel you should use it wisely. This morning a group of volunteers turned up to carry out a community litter pick. We assembled at the community orchard and, armed with litter pickers and bags supplied by the local authority, spent a satisfying and sociable couple of hours filling bags with the rubbish that accumulates in the area. The river bank is a particularly tricky area. It's really not safe to clamber about on it but the brambles growing on it catch lots of litter. We did our best and filled an amazing number of bags.

This is my second entry for the People at Work challenge. Where would we be without voluntary work.

The girls were really good last night and it was lovely to see them at breakfast time. We both left the house before they did.

This afternoon my friend I's daughter is giving me a professional pedicure. What a treat. Then Cameraman and I are going out to eat tonight. More treats.
