We had blue sky.

So we went off like intrepid adventurers to find the edge of the known world.

At Broadreach lock, the Aire & Calder Canal meets the river Calder and Bridge 2 carries the main line into Wakefield.

Scary it was edging through the ice and snow, avoiding brambles, to get to the other side of the tracks.

We ploughed on.

Tess discovered a hole in a frighteningly high, and spiky, fence.

Then she jumped into a bramble bush, It was disguised by a covering of snow. I nearly fell down the bank into the river and decided this wasn't the way I wanted to end my days. We retraced our steps.
