Slaters Bridge, Little Langdale
Sunshine and hail, cold and crisp, gusty and calm, icy and warm. A day of contrasts depending on what the skies were like. A day which, once again, was exceptional given the current weather arrangements.
Today started at Chesters by the River for excellent scones and even more excellent (decaf) coffee. From there we walked to Slaters Bridge via Colwith Force. We continued along the road to Great Langdale and the Wrynose Pass then returned to Slaters Bridge so doing a circuit of Little Langdale Tarn. Finally we carried on to Elterwater and along the lovely path back to Skelwith Bridge.
Great views all around of Wetherlam, Lingmell, the Langdales, Fairfield Horseshoe, Loughrigg and many others fells all with their upper slopes covered in snow. They looked spectacular when lit by the sun and dramatic when shadowed by squally showers. What a day to be out and about in the Lakes.
